Celtic Rock Concert Thursday Night, June 2nd - Cancellation Due to the extension in school calendars, compounded by an excessive number of snow days, this concert, which was originally intended to serve the local people has not had the crowd that we had in the beginning. We are very sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this causes you. The bands put their hearts and souls into their performance and deserved a large, enthusiastic crowd. We gave them the enthusiastic part but not the large part. We were not happy with the attendance and decided to eliminate this concert from our weekend schedule. To the bands, THANK YOU for giving us an opportunity to offer the best in Celtic rock entertainment over the years. We’ll be with you at every performance during the rest of the weekend, starting with the Ceilidh Friday night. If you have purchased individual tickets to this event, a refund will be mailed to you. For the tickets that would have been included in your Patron packet, you will receive two (2) personalized $5.00 coupons in your Patron packet that can be used toward the price of admission to any other event or you may use them towards a Games merchandise purchase. PIPE AND DRUM ANNOUNCEMENT Let us start by saying WE WILL HAVE PIPE BAND PERFORMANCES. However, for the 2011 Glasgow Highland Games, we will not have the individual or band competitions. The current economy made this decision for us. In order to host a competition that we can be proud of, it takes several thousands of dollars. Although we have excellent financial support from local businesses, our Tourist Bureau, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, we understand that they too have been affected by the economy and have been forced to decrease or eliminate donations. We are hopeful that the economy will turn around and we will be able to host the competition in 2012. We deeply appreciate the understanding and support we have received from the Pipe and Drum band directors and members, individual competitors, judges and each of you. Please come out and show your support to the Pipe Bands who will be performing for us. The emails we received from the Band Directors in response to this announcement were understanding and encouraging so we’d love to have a large crowd to cheer them onto the field. We would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our Pipe and Drum Event Director, Rick McKenzie, his assistant John Scott and the countless volunteers who helped make our competition an event we’ve been proud to host. We sincerely thank all of you, The 2011 Glasgow Highland Games Board of Directors
Please remember that no pets are allowed as we do not have any provisions for

We now accept Visa, MasterCard & Discover Credit Cards Please Note: Because of insurance requirements, NO vehicles will be allowed on the Games field after 7:00AM on Saturday and 7:30AM on Sunday. 02/02/11 The North American Team Scottish Athletic Championship Team USA vs. Team Canada
The North American Team Scottish Athletic Championship will be held as part of The Glasgow Highland Games 26th Anniversary celebration June 4th and 5th, 2011 at Barren River Lake State Resort Park in Lucas, KY. This event is sanctioned by the North American Scottish Games Athletics and will bring the top Professional Athletes in the United States and Canada to compete against each other similar to the Ryder Cup Professional Golf Europe vs. United States competition. The United States team will be lead by Kerry Overfelt, 2009 North American Scottish Athletics Champion and the current All American Champion and is anticipated to draw spectators from all over The United States and Canada. The next picture is of me and L.CPL Eric Owens, USMC" We wish to express our sincere sympathies to the family of Kenn Maxwell. Kenn passed away August 15th in his hometown of Birmingham. He is survived by his mother, Del LaGrone, his wife, Hertha, a daughter, Karla, and a son, Ashley. For those that remember, Kenn shared his wonderful singing talent with us as far back as our very first Highland Games here in Glasgow. Kenn, also known as "Marmaduke", also had been a food vendor early on, with his "Marmadogs by Marmaduke". Here are a couple of photos of Kenn from those early days.
