When are the Glasgow Highland Games?


This year the games have been postponed due to the Coronavirus. The 2021 Games will be June 4th, 5th, & 6th. We hope you join us.




Where is the location of the Games?


The Games themselves are held at Barren River Lake State Resort Park, 1149 State Park Road, Lucas, KY. (Approximately 90 miles south of Louisville, KY and 90 miles north of Nashville, TN) The office/mailing address is 613 East Main Street, Glasgow, KY 42141




Are dogs allowed?


No pets are allowed at the games. Service dogs are allowed. Anyone bringing a pet will not be allowed admittance and there will be no refund given.




What about parking?


Parking is free, you will be directed to open parking areas. A shuttle runs continuously (no set schedule) throughout the weekend from the lodge to the Games field to the cottages and campgrounds and back to the field. Handicapped parking is available, vehicles must display a mirror permit or have handicapped plates.




What does it cost?


Games (or field) Admission ticket prices include all daytime activities on both fields (St. Andrew's and Strathbarren) for Saturday and/or Sunday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. This includes: Entertainment, Competitions, Children & Adult Participation Events, Seminars, Demonstrations, Re-enactments, Vendors, etc. You may leave and return on the same day.
Additional Events not included in the Games (Field) price: Lunch with the Chief, Ceilidh, and Rockin' Under the Stars Concert.

Are bicycles allowed?


No bicycles on the Games field, please. Paved walkways are for pedestrians.




Are coolers allowed?


Coolers are allowed but are subject to inspection. The Barren River Lake State Resort Park and Lodge has a liquor license so only alcoholic beverages sold by them are allowed. Some restaurants in Glasgow and Barren County have a by the drink license.




Are motortized vehicles available?


Golf cart service is available. Pre-arrangement is required to either rent or bring your own. Call 1-270-651-3141 to make arrangements for either.




What is the schedule?


Schedules are accurate when published but keep in mind that due to unforeseen circumstances, changes may be made at the last minute.

A schedule will be posted in the website when it is finalized.




Are photographs and video allowed?


Yes, both photos/video are allowed at the events and shows.




Is there seating?


There is plenty of seating under the pavilions but you are allowed to bring your own if you choose.




What merchanise is available?


There will be commercial vendors selling various imported Scottish and Irish items and clothing, along with craft vendors selling a large variety of merchandise from handmade clothing and jewelry to candles, brooms, etc. Remember there are two fields of activities and vendors, St. Andrew's and Strathbarren.




Will there be food?


There will be food vendors. Typical "American" food (BBQ, hamburgers, fries, funnel cakes, ice cream, etc) is available along with Scottish food such as meat pies, Scotch eggs, fish and chips, etc.




What walking surface is there?


There is a pavement around the Games field leading back to Strathbarren Field and on the drive, all fairly level ground. There is a slight incline getting to the Games field.




Will the Games be cancelled due to weather?


Rain or shine all events are held. Just bring an umbrella if rain is in the forecast. No refunds are offered due to weather.
